Stunning Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya Bachchan were in Melbourne to attend the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2017.
Thousands of screaming fans left Swooned when Bollywood actress and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan arrived at Melbourne’s Federation Square on Saturday 12th August to hoist Indian Flag ahead of India’s 70th Independence Day Celebration. She came to Melbourne as a special Guest for Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. Known as The most beautiful Woman in the World , Aishwarya became the first woman to hoist the Indian National Flag at in Melbourne for the Film Festival.

The event was attended by a huge number of her fans from the Indian community living in Australia. It was a moment of Pride for all the Indians present there, everyone was singing the National Anthem of India while Aishwarya hoisted the National Flag at Federation Square. After hoisting Indian Flag, the global icon thanked the cheering crowd and said, “I love you all, and once let’s all say with pride, Jai Hind [Hail India]”.Aish’s cute Dauther Aaradhya was also the center of attention in the event.
The global beauty icon has done many Indian and international films, including Bride and Prejudice, an adaption of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.
Prior to the flag hoisting event Aishwarya dazzled the Red Carpet for Indian Film Festival Awards Night on Friday 11th August. Aishwarya was presented with the Excellence in Global Cinema Award on the evening.
Not only Aishwarya, many other stars from Indian Cinema also marked their presence at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. It was the 8th edition of IFFM which kickstarted on August 10 with Australian Premier of movie “ Lipstick Under My Burkha “.

Next day on 11th August Melbourne Recital Center danced to the beats of Bollywood as the winners of the Westpac Indian Film Festival of Melbourne were Declared. Hindi Cinema’s great Actor Sushant Singh Rajput won the Best Actor Award for his work in the movie “M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story”. It is based on the life of former Test, ODI and T20I captain of the Indian national cricket team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Sushant Singh Rajput shared the news with his fans and followers on social media. On Twitter, he wrote that he is ‘deeply honoured’ for being acknowledged for his performance.

Besides this “People’s Choice Award was given to Dangal and Baahubali: The Conclusion. Director of Movie “Dangal” Nitesh Tiwari was present at the event and won the honors for the Best Director Award. Spectators also witnessed energizing Live Singing performance by the Kakkar sisters – Akriti, Prakriti and Sukriti – who performed together for the first time in Australia.
The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2017 commenced from August 10 and continued till August 22. More than 60 films in 20 different languages were screened this year during the festival. The film festival closed with the critically acclaimed romance drama film “SHAB”. The screening of the film “Shab” was attended by versatile actress Raveen Tandon, newcomer Ashish Bisht and Director Onir.
